welcome to eta durban

The eta Durban Campus is located in Pinetown. We are next door to the Pinetown Boys High School.  We have access to the school sport fields and sport facilities where students do their practical learning and their field work. When studying with eta, you spend time in the class room, do your practical training in the conditioning studio and practice sport on the sport fields - you are totally immersed in a variety of learning experiences while on our eta campus.

Our facilities include three well equipped class rooms, a conditioning / fitness studio and student recreational centre with computers and internet access.

eta offers different programmes for the sport and fitness sector.  These include National Diplomas in Coaching Science, Fitness and in Sport management.

Coaching Science graduates can work as sport coaches in schools, sport clubs, sport organisations, sport academies or federations.

Fitness graduates can work as personal trainers, lifestyle coaches, conditioning trainers, or exercise specialists working with pregnant clients, children, adolescents or older adults.

Sport management graduates can work as a sport manager in schools, clubs and private institutions, fitness facility manager, event manager or sport team manager.  They are also able to coordinate corporate wellness programmes, manage recreation facilities and also ensure the inclusion of disability in sport environments

eta Durban Quarterly Newsletter

eta Durban
It has been go-go-go at the eta Durban campus since the beginning of the year and we have hardly had time to catch our breath. We had a buzz of activity on campus with a record student intake. Our off-site programmes have been going strong as well with the Sharks, Midlands and Gladiators Academies are all onboard since February. Our sport and fitness industry continues to grow rapidly.

I am particularly excited about the launch of REPS in South Africa (REPSSA) since the 1st April. This has created a professional register for fitness professionals, so get on the REPSSA website to find out more.
The sport coaching industry will also establish its own register soon. The South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) has now published its long term plan for coaching development through the SASCOC Coaching Framework. This is great news as the framework will give sport coaches the recognition they well deserve. We fully support these initiatives by REPSSA and SASCOC; professional registers can only enhance and grow our professions.

Enjoy the first of our three-monthly newsletter and have a look at all the learning opportunities we have in the store for you this year.

Regards,
Wessel

Induction Week

Giba Gorge Mountain Biking Park Synopsis
We kick-started the Induction week for full time students with a team building session. The day started with the group from TVG Teambuilding telling us all about the day’s events. The activities started with a very exciting and innovative warm-up. Students were then split into groups and rotated through
These activities ensured that all the students worked together to solve problems or to get through their activities. This not only made it enormous fun but challenging as well. All in all a very active and enjoyable day; in a beautiful location for all of the eta students.
